This year's Mutt Strut Dog Walk & Festival was a huge success! Nearly 300
registered walkers and 3,000 - 4,000 animal lovers made it out to Sleepy
Hole Park under beautiful blue skies for this 2nd annual event and helped
us raise over $53,000 to go towards our efforts to end euthanasia as a
means to control pet overpopulation.
Attendees, both human and canine alike, enjoyed they day's activities
that included performances by the Purina Incredible Dog Team, a "race the wind"
contest, an agility contest, police dog demonstrations, a Frosty Paws eating
contest, and a canine costume contest. Our four-legged companions could
also get free health screenings, ask an emergency vet questions, attend
a rabies clinic, or meet their neighbors while cooling off at one of the
many water stops throughout the park.
And the greatest news of all, some of the adoptable dogs brought to the festival
found their new families! 23 Rescues and 24 Vendors made it out to the park and
helped make this year's Mutt Strut an amazing day.
Suffolk Humane would like to thank everyone that came out to help support the welfare of
Suffolk's companion animals!
