After careful consideration, the Board of Directors in conjunction with the Mutt Strut Event Coordinator, have made the disappointing decision to cancel the Mutt Strut festival scheduled for September 13, 2020. After multiple discussions with staff, sponsors and coordinators, the Board and Executive Director for the Humane Society ultimately decided that canceling the festival is in the best interest of our vendors, sponsors, volunteers and attendees based on the impact that COVID-19 is having on our local communities.
We understand your disappointment as the Mutt Strut is a long-standing tradition for the Humane Society, but we feel that the health and safety of all the event participants is more important at this time. We will miss seeing all of you but will be working to ensure that the 2021 Mutt Strut is even more fun and exciting for all participants including attendees, sponsors, volunteers, vendors, merchants, entertainers, staff and the committee who work diligently to make this event a family and fur-baby friendly success.
The Suffolk Humane Society is only able to fulfill our mission due to the generosity of our community including our members, sponsors, and generous donors. In the first six months of 2020, we have placed over 330 animals in their forever homes and we want to thank you because without your support we would not be able to help as many as we do. We understand that times are difficult right now, but if you are in a position to support the Humane Society, we ask that you become a member, make a donation or drop off food or supplies at our office located at 412 King’s Fork Road in Suffolk.
